Digital Photo Media: Drawing Me (Self-Portrait)

For our final assignment for Digital Photo Media, we were asked to do a self-portrait photography. It is something which I really hate to do. I am not good in front of the camera and I don't really know how to portray who I am. It was tough actually. There many obstacles faced for this project.

Initially, my idea was to take photographs based on a theme called Secret Agents. I wanted to show the life of a Secret Agent like James Bond. But I don't think that portray me. So, I decided to come up with something different.

I decided to used my drawings to portray who I am. In this series, every drawings that I have drawn symbolises me. Leader, courageous , brave, gentle, strong and unpredictability. Drawing has become a part in my life now. It is the best way for me to portray my emotions. I hope that you will be able to connect with me through the series that I have taken....

Digital Photo Media: John Shaw's Nature Photography

Nature is very beautiful. It's hard to capture it sometimes unless you have a really good camera and editing skill. Well, John Shaw have managed to portray that. I love how he took all the photographs of the natural landscapes and animals. Really admire it a lot.

John Shaw has been a professional nature photographer since the 70s. Very famous man and his work has been used in various media. Most of his photography work were published in various publication and books, including the documentaries in National Geographic, Nature's Best, Outdoor Photographer and so on. He also have published several books on photography tutorials. He will be publishing a new book in 2015. And he had took photographs at all part of the worlds....

Digital Photo Media: Surreal Photo Manipulation By Dariusz Klimczak

We throw the word “surreal” around a lot when talking about photographers, but these outlandish works by Polish photographer have created something that is very realistic and bizarre! I really admire his style. His composition and the framing is something really different. I find it strange at first as i don't really like framing my photographs into squares.

Klimczak uses his wild imagination to populate desolate landscapes with bizarre and surreal characters and objects. The atmosphere of the vast deserts and plains in his photographers seem to be inspired by Dali’s work, as do the stilt-walkers and other characters therein. The images form a mythological world that seems to bend or break the laws of physics, but the fact that most of the images remain photo-realistic makes them all the more unsettling.

According to his biography, he prefers creating square compositions in black and white, although he does create quite a few color photographs as well. He says that the aim of his images is to use stories and universal symbols to move his viewers and force them to think or to simply crack a smile.

Digital Photo Media: Robert Capa's Photography

Robert Capa, a hungarian war photographer and journalist who captures those moments during the war. He has covered five wars, the Spanish Civil War, the Second Sino-Japanese War, World War II across Europe, the1948 Arab-Israeli War, and the First Indochina War. He documented the course of World War II in London, North Africa, Italy, the Battle of Normandyon Omaha Beach and the liberation of Paris.

His famous work was the series called The Falling Soldier. It was understood to have been taken on September 5, 1936, and was long thought to depict the death of a Republican, specifically anIberian Federation of Libertarian Youth (FIJL) soldier during the Spanish Civil War. While some authors, including Capa's biographer, Richard Whelan, always defended the photograph's authenticity, since 1975, doubts have been raised. The 2007 documentary La sombra del iceberg claims that the picture was staged and that Borrell is not the individual in the picture.

I really like how he capture those sad dying moment of those soldiers. Even though some photographers still speculate that his photography work was staged, but i really do love it. I felt like i am in the photo. As if i am connected with it. Moreover, I am into this kind of photography, some sort like a documentary kind of a photography.

Digital Photo Media: Landscape Photography By Ansel Adams

Ansel Adams, a famous photographer as well as an environmentalist. He is one of the famous photographer of all time. His Black and White landscape photographs of the American West has made him famous. His photos were widely used in books, calendars and poster. One of the famous photo he took was the famous American landmark, the Yosemite National Park. He has also developed the Zone System. A system which determines the proper exposure and the adjustment of the contrast of the final print. This resulted the clarity and depth characterised in his photography. Adams would used large-format cameras for his photography as their high resolution helped ensure sharpness in his images.

I really love his Black-and-White landscape photography. I don't know how to describe it but i really do like it. It has that unique style in it. The place looks ordinary but with the corroect angle, exposure and lighting, he is able to capture those tiny details of the photo even though black and white photos will decreased the amount of details in it. I love landscape and nature photography. So, Ansel Adams have gave me a couple of inspiration and ideas in my upcoming projects.
